The Sweaty Beetle

The other day I got to talk to a wonderful young man who was very interested in our Creature Exhibits!

He was a little nervous but decided to hold one of our Blue Death Feigning Beetles. When we flipped that Beetle over we realized his hands were a little sweaty because the waxy coating that makes these beetles blue was missing down the back!

It was a great opportunity to show what happens when a BDF Beetle is exposed to moisture! What a funny and educational moment!
